Masala chai made the way a chai wallah would recognise it: strong Assam black tea carrying real spice, not a flavouring. The spices are ground and blended into the tea rather than sprayed on, so the warmth builds through the cup instead of hitting the nose and vanishing. Drink it black through the afternoon, or make it up with milk the way most Indian homes do.
Tasting notes
Warm and aromatic — cardamom forward, with cinnamon sweetness, a clove edge and a gentle ginger heat at the finish.
How to brew?
For the traditional cup, steep one bag in 150 ml of boiling water for three minutes, add hot milk and sugar, and press the bag once before removing it. Without milk, two minutes gives a lighter, spicier cup.
What is inside?
Assam black tea with cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger and black pepper. No artificial flavouring and no added colour.
The tea bag. Staple-free, naturally crimped filter paper. No adhesive or plasticiser, and microwave safe.
QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Is this the same as chai masala powder? No. Chai masala is a spice blend you add to tea. This is a finished blend — tea and spice together in one bag, so the ratio is already correct.
Does masala chai contain caffeine? Yes, it is based on Assam black tea. If you want the spice without the caffeine, our Turmeric Ginger infusion is caffeine free.
